Barstow CA Route 66 Barstow Ca grew up basically as a mining town. As gold and silver came out of Calico and the surrounding hills and the salts of the Mojave Dessert, Barstow with the railroads became a hub. More recently Barstow has become the go to stop for expectant winners on their way to Las Vegas from Los Angeles or a place to commiserate their losses on the way home. Barstow makes a great fueling stop or to grab a bite to eat. A series of these marquees with different cars have been placed along Route 66.
Barstow is named for William Barstow Strong, former president of the Atchison, Topeka, and the Santa Fe Railroad Company. S1 9 Barstow CA RT 66 by California to Chicago Photography
